USITC to investigate Ericsson complaint against Samsung over 5G equipment
The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) announced in a press release that it will investigate a complaint filed by Ericsson that alleges Samsung violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by infringing Ericsson’s patent of 4G and 5G wireless communications infrastructure systems. Ericsson also sued Samsung in the US District Court in Texas with allegations of patent infringement on 15 January 2021. Samsung told the USITC that Ericsson had not provided factual support for their allegation. The two companies had a patent royalty legal dispute in 2012, two years after which Samsung paid Ericsson US$650 million to resolve the battle.
