Vietnam issues first e-government development strategy towards digital government
The Vietnamese Prime Minister endorsed its first e-government development strategy towards the digital government during the period of 2021-2025 with a vision to make Viet Nam one of the top 30 countries in the world in terms of e-government and digital government according to the UN rankings. To this aim, the strategy pinpoints five major targets: 1) providing high-quality services to society; 2) expanding public engagement; 3) improving state agency operations; 4) effectively resolving important issues in socioeconomic growth; and 5) making a breakthrough in the national ranking for e-government, digital government, e-participation and open data. To achieve these targets, the strategy further outlines the main tasks required: improving the legal environment, developing digital infrastructure, developing digital platforms and national-scale systems, developing national digital data, developing national applications and services, and ensuring the safety and security of the national network.
