China-based organisations have formed an Intellectual Property Alliance for Quantum Computing Industry and an affiliated patent pool in Beijing. The alliance aims to enhance China’s development, standardisation, and industrialisation of quantum computing resources by combining resources from Baidu, the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences, and other innovative entities.
The patent pool will focus on seven quantum fields, including measurement and control, security and encryption, architecture and software, quantum error correction (QEC), and algorithms. The alliance will also promote innovation and tech development, as well as encourage standards.
A recent report by Quantum Insider notes China has invested between $4 billion and $17 billion in quantum technology, making it a leader in quantum research and development.
